Review
A decent mid-budget Spaghetti Western, with a good dose of family melodrama (which often livens up this type of film). Luke Barrett (Antonio Sabato – an actor who is basically unknown to me) has… AMNESIA… (with all the potential for melodrama that that entails) following an ambush on the trail. He rides into town to discover that he’s supposed to be assassinating his brother (Klaus Kinski). There’s some tragedy involving the civil war, an ongoing disagreement between the banker and Kinski, a preacher’s daughter turned prostitute with a heart of gold, and a finale involving the family blunderbuss.
It isn’t perfect though. Parts of it looked a little cheap – some dubious stock footage of a vulture at the start spring to mind and also some aspects of the shootout at the end. It’s edited in quite a “choppy” manner, which means it isn’t always obvious when a scene has ended and makes it harder to follow than necessary. I’m also not convinced that the name “Dingus”, belonging to a mystery villain, had translated well from the original Italian script.
It is basically good though, and a decent, watchable example of this type of Spaghetti Western - recommended.
