Review
A rich-but-stupid Harvard graduate goes west to attempt to collect his inheritance from his deceased father Paleface, only to find a large number of enraged townsfolk to whom his father owed money. In the meantime a bandit known as The Torch (Jane Russell) has been raiding local stagecoaches, and Roy Rogers is a government agent out to catch him. Paleface's son and The Torch get both try to seduce the other, believing the other to be rich.
The sequel to The Paleface, which I haven't yet seen, this is a very amusing farce. Lots of it works very well, for example mocking Roy Rogers' whiter-than-white image with the insinuation that he has a thing for horses, and a great ending action sequence where a the heroes son's car loses a wheel which must be caught and returned, obviously defying the laws of physics. Some of the bits about the rich-but-stupid Harvard graduate come across as slightly mean-spirited, but in the main it's generally pretty funny. This is probably one of best Western comedies.
The UK DVD looks reasonable (no obvious problems, the image is pretty sharp).
