Review
The works of director Demofilo Fidani are generally not considered pretty terrible, and this one basically conformed to reputation. That said, it wasn't notably worse than other low end spaghetti Westerns. The "plot" is about a new Sheriff (Fabio Testi) who arrives in town and proves himself to be surprisingly incompetent. Through a slightly clunky extended flashback it's revealed how the town came to be ruled by a scheming businessman (possibly – it's never entirely clear what his position is, so I'm guessing based on appearance) and a deranged Mexican bandit. The Sheriff is aided by a "mysterious" black clad gunfighter, who is eventually revealed to be Django. At the end, the Sheriff is similarly revealed—largely be process of elimination—to be Sartana, despite not showing many Sartana-like attributes.
The two problems are an mostly an almost complete lack of characterisation, especially for the Sheriff who seemed to have very little motivation (but who did have a certificate from Sheriff school), and a sloppy feel to the whole thing. However, as the Spaghetti Western database review points out, there were some genuinely classy moments (Django's big gunfight, mainly). The music was provides a decent Spaghetti Western feel. Still – I wouldn't recommend bother with this.
